The Faizah Appeal
Someone left the following comment on my blog, leading to what they called "Faizah Appeal". It is about a Malaysian student in Cardiff facing financial difficulties in paying for her tuition fees. I am not sure whether the case is genuine or not since I have received many such appeals before which eventually turned out to be a scam. But in case the appeal is genuine -- which only our Cardiff Malaysian students are in the best position to verify this -- then rendering of help to her is necessary, no matter how small it is. A Muslim should not make an excuse of saying that it is not his/her responsibility to help but instead it is the government or other sponsoring agencies. Truly, the government bears greater responsibility than we do, nonetheless, helping out each other for good cause is a collective responsibility of each and every one of us, and will surely be rewarded provided it is done with sincerity. God says: "wa ta'awanu 'ala al-birr wa al-taqwa..." (Co-operate each other in good cause and piety...). As I've just said, check first whether the appeal is not a bogus one before you contribute.
