Earthquake
A magnitude 7.6 earthquake rocked parts of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan on Saturday the 8th. The death toll in Pakistan is rapidly increasing as new information comes in. At least 33,000 people have been killed in Pakistan alone, while Kashmir has been completely devastated. In this period of calamity, we should ask God forgiveness and protection that He may not test us with such a tribulation. At the same time, we should also make du'a for all our brothers and sisters in Pakistan and other affected regions that God may give them strength in facing this test from Him.
Whilst we have a peaceful and comfortable life here, we should not forget the sufferings of the bereaved families. It reminds me of a hadith of the Prophet s.a.w that says something like this: "Whoever does not care the affairs of the other Muslims, then he is not one of us". Apart from du'a, I believe it would be good for us especially in this month of Ramadhan where the rewards for charity are multiplied, to donate some amount of money to various funds launched in this connection, such as Islamic Relief and others.
Just make sure that the money you gave goes to trustworthy organisations. May Allah accept our jariah. Amin.
